CBD to the Rescue?

Remember when cannabis was seen as the preserve of students and hippy types? Well those days are well and truly gone.
Almost one in five Americans over the age of 50 uses a product containing the cannabis extract, CBD . Sales here in the UK have doubled between 2018 and 2020.

CBD is NOT the psychoactive element in cannabis so cannot get you “high “ and is legal in the UK.

Advocates maintain it can improve relaxation and sleep as well as ease anxiety and pain.

The World Health Organisation says “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD”.

But it is not medically regulated - and there are reports of rare side effects, including tiredness, nausea, changes in appetite or weight, dry mouth and low blood pressure.
